Let it come a little closer by Marga C. Fripp Let it come a little closer. His walk gently swaying, Breathing through the nostrils the fresh morning air on the farm. The burro looks old and ragged,
Yet he appears as a wise presence. His shaggy coat gives him a rough look of an old soul toughed up by life. Let it come a little closer. The burro moves slowly but firm, No hesitation in his moves. He’s approaching the fence with interest as a newcomer arrived and watches him closely. The Labrador, on the other side of the fence, Growled once and stopped. His eyes piercing right through the eyes of the innocent burro. For a fleeting moment, They both are at a standstill. No move, no sound, no action. They face each other with curiosity, Investigating the nature of the encounter. The Labrador pulls the leash, Stepping up closer to the fence. His inpatient nature makes him the less wise of the two. Let it come a little closer. The burro slowly looks down, eyes calmly searching for relief. He finds the fresh grass more appealing than the false threat the Labrador presented. He knows to let go of the fear as he investigated and learned that he was safe in his place.
